About us

Designing Smarter, All‑Electric Homes Built for Australia’s Future

Hydrosol is an independent design consultancy specialising in high‑performance, all‑electric heating, cooling, ventilation, and hot water systems for new homes and renovations.

We help homeowners, architects, and builders navigate the 7-Star ‘Whole of Home’ requirements and make confident decisions about the technologies that will shape their home’s comfort, efficiency, and long‑term running costs.

Our work is grounded in real‑world experience: decades of designing, manufacturing, and installing heat pump–based systems across Australian homes.

We combine engineering insight with practical, on‑site knowledge to deliver solutions that work — not just on paper, but in lived homes.

Hydrosol and its associates have the experience, design, engineering and service capability you need for an efficient electric home. We take a holistic approach to the design of your project.

Contact us if you are planning an all-electric new build or renovation, going off-gas or off-grid. It is better to explore your needs at the early design stage when all options are available. This will save you time and costs.

Meet Your Principal Consultant

Chris Siddons, BEc, NatHERS Cert IV, Heat Pump & Energy Efficiency Specialist

Chris brings more than 40 years of experience in the Australian building industry, spanning insulation manufacturing, construction fasteners, heat pump systems, and high‑performance home design.

His early career included working in rockwool insulation manufacturing for domestic, commercial, and industrial projects, giving him a deep understanding of thermal performance, fire resistance, and building envelope behaviour.

He later worked with Ramset Fasteners in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and Canada. This experience provided practical insight into construction methods internationally, as well as installation quality, and the realities of how buildings are actually put together on site.

This foundation, combined later with extensive work in heat pump manufacturing and contracting, led Chris to specialise in all‑electric home design.

Over the past decade, he has completed more than 500 consulting assignments, helping homeowners, architects, and builders design efficient, comfortable, future‑ready homes that perform in real Australian conditions.

Holistic Advice

As a NatHERS‑qualified assessor, he also advises on improving home star ratings and meeting the new 7-Star ‘Whole of Home’ energy requirements.

His goal is simple: to help clients make informed, future‑proof decisions that balance comfort, sustainability, and cost.

Today, Chris provides holistic advice that helps clients integrate:

  • All‑electric heating and cooling
  • Ventilation and indoor air quality strategies
  • Heat pump hot water
  • Pool heating
  • EV charging
  • Solar PV and battery storage
  • Thermal performance improvements
  • Power supply planning

What Our Work Looks Like in Practice

Hydrosol has supported the design of hundreds of Australian homes including all‑electric upgrades, renovations, and new builds. Here are a few examples (read more):

  • A Victorian renovation in Castlemaine — integrating hydronic heating/cooling, HRV ventilation, and heat pump hot water into a period home with a modern extension
  • A Port Melbourne weatherboard home — combining underfloor hydronic heating/cooling, radiators, multi‑split AC, and heat pump hot water for a complete off‑gas transition
  • A Toorak renovation — designing hydronic heating/cooling with new radiators, towel rails, and fan‑coil convectors powered by 1 heat pump
  • Acoustic optimisation — reducing sound reverberation when switching from carpet to hard floors over hydronic systems

These examples reflect the diversity of homes we work with and the practical, problem‑solving approach we bring to projects.

Our Design Philosophy

A comfortable, efficient home starts with good design. The better your thermal envelope, the less you rely on mechanical heating and cooling — and the more value you get from your solar power.

We focus on three core principles:

  • Reduce winter heat loss and summer heat gain
  • Use efficient, proven and well‑supported electric systems
  • Maximise solar energy and smart storage

This approach lowers running costs, improves comfort, improves the value of your home, and reduces your home’s carbon footprint.

Consider a staged implementation plan.

Let’s Design Your All‑Electric Home Together

If you’re planning a new build, renovation, or transition away from gas, the best time to talk is early — when all options are still on the table.

Early design saves time, avoids costly mistakes, and ensures your home performs the way you expect.
